Anirude was ready & desperate to do some show off by pullin some wheelies & stopies but as it was a highway we didnt want ny chaos & like a good boy anirude also agreed to keep the horse offfroad. I really wanted to capture some stunts but had to wait……..  This time instead of dividin the bill later and then fighting for change we decided to pool in money first & then it was jst one person’s headache to pay the money instead of hunting ppl wen the bill comes. Collected the money paid of the bill & we ere back on track. I was sweeping and calvin was leading, actually I didn’t have much options due to the luggage on the left of my bike. It was becoming more & more difficult to turn left on the curvers. On the Ghats I was so slow tht the bike was feeling like a bus climbing uphill. Was really enjoyin it everyone should try this once. For a change spidy was also ridding slowly to give me company, yaaa tht was shocking SPIDY & SLOW. Malshej ghats were as usual very beautiful & this time there were many monkeys around, nimish tried to click some pics but the monkey were not in a mood to pose…… We waited near the tunnel to take some pics, wanted to try some shots (Jst experimenting, Will post them for ur review).

We reached the Malshej Dhaba where everyone was waitin for us. I was a bit late & the stuntin session had jst finished, really sad I missed it guys. You could have waited a bit yaaaar (Calvin & Anirude ill not post the kharghar pics now….). Regrouped again & moved on to the lake. Spider had decided that he wanted to drag so he was dragging ALONE, in sane terms he was rippin the bike along the highway. The road leadin to the lake was dust & rubble & full of craters. This time there was human presence around the lake, all Sunday the freeday sort of birds on picnic. The road abruptly ends after a km & goes into the lake (If u have a waterproof engine then u can ride). There were some naked urban gorillas taking bath in the lake, is it something with ppl in cities tht wherever one finds a lake or sea or some waterbody jst strip yourself & jump in it. I think to save water most of ppl don’t bath for years……….

As we knw that we were there to remove all debris of Sharukh Khans, Rab Ne Bana De Jodi, it was really careless on part of the creative team. I believe they need to be answerable to the government & the people for such a ruckus. The aim was to clean up of the debris from the shore & the approach road & dispose them at an appropriate location. I had estimated from some memories of my last trip that there were not more than 3 gunny sacks of debris but I was wrong there. Wen we reached there everyone was shocked to see the amount of POP. Even a tempo would have to make two trips to carry everything so it was clear that we were ill equipped to handle this rukus. Everyone was disappointed a bit after knowing there were very few things tht we could do. Calvin decided tht we can take pics of the mess and send it to the media and some NGO’s which would come forward to help. Strolling around the lake we found some POP dumped on the shores so we decided at least we can clean tht. Removed all the POP from the area thx to Calvin & rest of the worker, hehehe. We decided to dump all the POP on the road instead of takin in back to kalyan as we had only some sacks to carry the debris & there was a risk of the sacks tearin of and wer had only 2 pillions to carry stuff. Did some photo shoots of ppl workin & possin with  fauda, hilarious poses.

Had another round of photoshoot near the lake with a unique bike lineup & stuff. Around 1.30 it was time to head back home.

Title: An Offroad escape to Manor – Jawar
Location: Manor – Jawar, Maharashtra, India
Date: 18 Jan, 2009

Due to some work today, I was not able to ride to Pavana Dam, Lonavla. I desperately wanted to visit the dam but luck & work plays an important role in ur destiny. Sittin at home on a sunday and doin nothin but watchin some crap movies was not on my things to do list. Had planned to learn some martial arts from Mr. Akshay Kumar in “Chandni Chowk to China” but many friends advised me to donate the money for their expenses instead of movie tickets.

Autumn by the road, a leaf less tree but not life less.

So wht option does God leave me with on a pleasant sunday, no doubt a ride. With no petrol in tank & no money & no destination in mind in wallet I started the bike. A friend of mine was to accompany me on this ride & finance me, she too was frustrated sitting at home on a pleasant yet boring sunday. We decided to ride on the route from Manor till Jawar (Maharashtra, India). This is a deserted road which leads to Nasik, it goes through Jawar, Trimbekeshwar leads to nashik. One needs to take a right from NH4 (Mumbai – Ahemedabad) near Manor Telephone exchange, locals would help you find the route. The route is not that serene but as it is remote there is sparse traffic on the route. One can peacefully cruise on this road enjoying the cool breeze.

...........

...........

I had earlier been on this road with anup & shiva some 2 – 3 moths back & we had names a place “Cow Killer Point” a beautifully cliff some 10 km’s from Jawar. Today we didnt have ny destination as such so we decided to shift from the main road to the inner village roads. There was a village, I guess the name was “Nilshej” not sure bout it though, we took a left & hit a small road wide enough for a jeep to passss (Jst forget a buses or trucks). As usual villagers were starring at us, a person on a bike with a helmet & even the pillion with a helmet is a rear view in such areas. The road became narrower & narrower and started branching out. Dead end, the bridge ahead was broken & me & my partner were too desperate to move on. Did some offroadin & river crossing, yaaa the unicorn can handle this & were on the other side & zommin through a 5ft wide road. Were some 10 km ahead & decided to head back on the highway. The road was not a straight path & had many branches I didnt want to get lost in a tribal area with a girl with me.

Back on the main road we were doin odd 60-70 kmph & enjoin the well banked corners & the cool breeze with a rural background. My friend wanted to go sit by some pond or river for sometime but I was reluctant to stop nywhere. We again were on a some rural bylane 7ft wide & climbin some mountain. There was a river passin by & couldnt resist the offroadin temptation. The was a small path downhill leadin to the river. Carefully manuvered the bike to the banks of the river with a pillion with me, didnt want to fall in front of a girl :D:D. We parked the bike at some distance & walked by the shore. A quick assessment of the river & there were more beautiful places ahead on the river bed, so we headed to chk those out. Hopped on the bike & started riddin on some rubble & grass, the only thing in my mind was, plz plz no puncture. This area is so remote tht you would have to drag the bike some 10-15 kms until you find a mech or someone to repair the puncture. We hit a dead end in 10 mins, now we had to walk :(, walk whtz tht. Since I bought the Unicorn 8 months back ive completely quit walkin, need to do somethin otherwise ill become another techie with a belly & a unicorn to blame. Jokes apart we started walkin, there were some village women washin clothes, thtz fine. 50 steps more & there were some women takin bath (naked), plz GOD save me I didnt see nythin plz dont kill me. This was wht goin on in my mind. I told my firiend tht we should return or the villagers would kill us but she didnt budge a bit. She was laughin at me, “You are the fist male on earth prayin, no more naked women, the rest pray for the opposite”. Finally after a difficult trek we found a cool shady place by the banks to sit and have a chat. The water was not tht good but itz really difficult to explain tht to girls. We trekked back to the bike, I was a bit scared tht the bike would be without a engine or tyres or there would be no bike at all but the unicorn was jst fine. I was 5.30 and we decided to head back home before it was dark. I dont have many pics from this ride ppl. All pics are taken from my 2MP phone camera (which does not has a carl zeiss) my SLR was with anup (hope he has some good pics to show off).

Title: Malshej Cleanup G2G
Location: Malshej Ghats, Thane, Maharashtra
Date: 11 Jan, 2009

The trip was a humble initiative of cleaning the lake/backwaters of Dimbhe Dam. The ride was almost cancelled by the ongoing petrol strike, for sometime the strike made me realize how important the transport mechanism is how helpless we are without fossil fuel DOOMSDAY. We didn’t want to go for a ride by procuring petrol in a situation where it was not available for essential services, but by Gods grace the strike was called of late Friday night & the pumps were 80% back to normal by Saturday evening. I was busy Saturday evening arranging the equipments required to clean the lake. The whole week I was living out of a suitcase shuttling between cities & finally wen I got time at night take some rest @ home it was time to get up hop on the bike & ride to Malshej.

The meeting time was 6.00 and in whatever circumstances I didn’t want to be late on this ride. So with Nimish as a pillion & my bike loaded with all the construction equipment required for cleanup I was at Fountain hotel by 6.00. To my surprise the only person present there was Winzee, he is always on time. A quick call to spidy and come to knw tht moto was out of petrol which was causing delay. So it was clear tht whatever I do Ill always be late @ the final meeting point. By 6.30 everyone had reached fountain hotel & we were started ridin towards Eternity Mall, Thane to meet Calvin & folks. Anup was waitin at eternity mall, he had come to wave us off & to take his surprise gift which I forgot to bring (U should have see the expressions…………….). This time I was a bit nervous as there were no senior member of XBHP Mumbai for this ride (All the buddhas..) & I didn’t want ny accidents. We started from eternity mall around 7.00 with me leading (Yaa I was a bit promoted) & Calvin sweeping. Moto was supposed to go up & down the formation to chk everyone is fine & no one does weird stuff.

In a hour or so we were on the NH222 headin towards Malshej Ghats & the first prob was there to greet me. There was a bag hanging from the left side of the bike which was containing some gunny sacks & the ghamela. Whenever I used to lean left the bag used to touch the tarmac. If it would tear nimish would have to carry all the stuff in his hand & I didn’t want tht, so I started ridding slowly. To say the truth I was crawlin with 30 – 40 avg speed & very carefully bending to the left. Riddin slow on corners is very difficult I guess. So I was sweepin now & calvin was leadin. We finally reached Murbad & halted to have the oldies Missile Pav (this is a tradition). The café walla was askin where bobby is, he was disappointed to hear tht he is workin in Dubai for some hotel (Bobby I guess he was planning to hire u……)
